Starting Out

One of the most important resources when beginning a career as a Gig Photographer is a substantial network of contacts. This network will contain many different people you can communicate with to try and source as much work as possible. Your contact network will mainly be made up of artists and venues who you can source Photography work from. Beginning work as a Gig Photographer will be difficult at first, you will be entirely motivated by your passions for either photography or music but ideally a bit of both. You will more than likely be working for free and will have to work hard to get your talents recognised. Once clients begin to develop a liking for your work you can consider charging them for your services. The best way to begin your career as a Gig Photographer is taking photos at as many venues and of as many artists as possible and try to communicate with venues and artists alike and get your name out there to start gaining recognition.
